Small streams – Big trout – Dry flies
Welcome to Southland, the essence of fly-fishing in New Zealand!
Hello, I'm Chris Dore. Join me for an experience upon some of the world’s finest trout streams, where I will introduce you to the superbly conditioned brown and rainbow trout, which abound in these pristine waters.
The rivers you have dreamt about are all our home waters and our local knowledge and many years of exploration will ensure that your visit here is a memorable one.
Participate in "Kiwi style" sight fishing techniques, where we will visually locate each trout before presenting our fly. With my personal guidance and assistance you will be spotting fish in no time, the only question then is which fly to use.
I will educate you in the ways of our ‘selective trout’, and help you in solving the ‘match the hatch’ riddle upon the much revered, Mataura River.
Experience a massive afternoon hatch of deleatidium duns, before presenting specialist imitations during the evening spinner fall, where only local knowledge and innovation will prevail. Dry fly fishing of this caliber can be both challenging and rewarding, and you will soon see first - hand why many travel the world to fish this water exclusivley.
You may wish to target our mid summer, wilderness rainbows with large, terrestrial dry flies, or experience a wilderness campout among unrivalled, backcountry scenery. With free – rising browns and fighting fit rainbows our options are unlimited.
